Porter Family Vineyards

In reflection of 2010

While talking to a fellow Coombsville Vintner it was said “This year was not for Rookies.” Truer words could not have been said about the 2010 growing season. We started with a wet and mild spring, followed by a cooler than usual summer, with an occasional heat spike for good measure. To top it off we, like all other Napa vintners, battled the end of the season hoping the grapes would be ready to harvest before the arrival of the first winter storms. At Porter Family Vineyards, we couldn’t be happier that our vineyard management team was able to bring to the table years of experience to help weather the storms, literally. And after having survived the many challenges throughout the growing season, we are happy to say that the 2010 vintage has been put to rest. It is now safely in barrels being tenderly cared for by Heather and our Cellar crew. We expect that all the sleepless nights and meticulous vineyard management will be evident when these wines release.

Welcome 2011!

For now the beginning of 2011 means bottling time, and the anticipation of the new releases throughout the year.

NAPA

Porter Family Vineyards also wants to announce that it will be proudly participating once again in Premiere Napa Valley 2011.

On February 26, 2011, more than 200 Napa Valley Vintners including Porter Family Vineyards will gather to offer select members of the wine trade the opportunity to taste from barrel and bid on wines created solely for this event, to be bought by only one bidder.  This bidder will be the sole owner of that one-of-a-kind Napa wine.

Porter Family Vineyards winemaker Heather Porter Wolfe and consulting winemaker Ken Bernards have once again come up with a winning blend.  Look for our 2009 Duet to be a big hit amongst the bidders.

Collectors and consumers may not attend this trade event, but if are interested in the Porter Family Vineyards lot, contact a trade attendee prior to the event so they may bid on your behalf.  Wine profiles for our 2011 Premiere Napa Valley wines are online. CLICK HERE

UTAH

Once again we will head to Park City for the Red White & Snow March 10-12.  This is the premier fundraiser for the National Ability Center, and celebrates some of the nation’s top chefs and finest vintners.  The event offers a unique opportunity for culinary and wine connoisseurs, vintners and skiers from across the country to mingle in an extraordinary setting.  The weekend is made up of a variety of wine tastings, Vintner Dinners hosted at private estate homes around Park City and Deer Valley, ski challenges and culminates with a mountain elegance gala dinner and auction.  If you are planning to be in the area let us know, we would love to see you.

Cheers,

The Porter Family
